Is it possible that some of those who deny the reality of the Holocaust?

do so because they cannot grasp or deal with the enormity of the horror and degree of blatant, gratuitous carnage that happened? That perhaps they are just incapable of truly feeling the depth of the pain and suffering, so they deny the entire thing happened and then act out to defend that position, which in reality is defending their own validity because they can't grasp the reality of it?
